Normally, my oldest punk doesn’t smile with his mouth open.  There is a reason for that… his braces.

Yesterday was a very big day.  My oldest punk got his braces off yesterday.  Sitting in the orthodontists chair, he kept saying that he couldn’t wait to eat sticky candy, caramel, skittles, and more sticky candy for Halloween.  Then they gave him a goodie bag for this momentous occasion.  It was filled with all the goodies that he couldn’t eat for the last 2 1/2 years.  Popcorn, Laffy Taffy, Bubble Gum, Tootsie Rolls, etc.

As he was sitting there eating his candy… still in the orthodontist chair… the assistants (who remarked that no one had actually eaten their candy in the chair)were asking him about school this year and he said he was worried about his Algebra class.  Then out of the clear blue  he said,

“I would like to state for the record that I believe that numbers should stay with numbers and letters should stay with letters (how do you really feel).  They should not ever combine (if only you could be more clear).  Whoever decided to combine them was very wrong in their decision to do that.”

So there you have it.  If there is one thing my oldest punk will give you, it’s his opinion.  You will not wonder, he will not be vague.  You always know right where you stand with him, and that’s one of the very things I love about him.  His authenticity and his honesty (and his originality).  It’s refreshing… well, ok maybe not all the time.
