Our canines needed some new collars and since I’m on this leather working kick, I thought this was the perfect project for my punks to tackle.
I bought dog collar kits at Tandy Leather. First, we measured their necks and cut the collars to size. Then we found the middle of the collar and hammered the middle letter of their name in and worked our way out on each side.
My youngest wanted to paint his collar because his dog is a girl and she needed a pretty collar. We just used regular acrylic paint for this.
My oldest punk went crazy stamping and working the leather until he thought it looked just right for his dog. He wasn’t going to paint his dog collar because boy dogs need a masculine/unpainted collar.
And even though they aren’t perfect, they are happy with how they turned out. While my oldest was at it, he thought he needed a key chain. He kept saying something about turning 16 next month.
But somehow with my fingers in my ears and saying la la la la, I didn’t hear him.
